Hindu village under attack in Lalmonirhat of Bangladesh

On the night of 16 May 2015 a Hindu community village named Dash Para (Majhi para) under Sarpukur union of Aditmari upazila in Lalmonirhat, Bangladesh was attacked by the students and teachers of the local madrassa. Houses of seven Hindu families, and a temple were vandalized by the gang.

lakshmiAll the residents of the village have fled from their homes in fear of torture. The local Muslim residents alleged that the Hindus spoke against the madrassa, but the Hindus claim that some of the madrassa students abused them when they were bringing the Lakhmi-Narayan Statue in their village on the noon of 16 May. The Hindus protested against the abuses. As a reaction, on the evening of 16 May, armed with sharp weapons the madrassa students along with their teachers attacked the village. The police and local public representatives visited the village on the night, but didn’t arrest anyone. Local Hindus informed the Lalmonirhat Deputy Commissioner Md. Habibur Rahman and Superintendent of Police SP TM Mozahidul Islam and other officials. The SP in Lalmonirhat TM Mozahidul Islam said that the forces were deployed in the village, and they will arrest all the culprits.
